We are constituted as a non-profit public benefit foundation with charitable objects and a registered Social Enterprise in Scotland.
We aim to support communities and businesses through using our know-how and solutions to deliver public benefit. In addition to providing community business advisory support, we develop financial models to enable us to make investments for our own account, or donations to charities and projects with a clear public benefit. We firmly believe that by helping others, we help ourselves.
MF is a leader in developing solutions and methodologies to adapt conventional finance and insurance products to become more ESG-compliant. Examples include developing methods to accelerate the fight against climate change, accelerating the global Loss & Damage fund and facilitating funding and insurance to cover the costs of adaptation due to the impact of climate change.
To enable us to make investments for own account, we work with investors, insurers and asset managers. These are bespoke funding models which are unique to Mannheim Foundation, and are aimed at facilitating investments and donations in situations or opportunities which usually do not attract conventional finance. Examples of situations range from retrospective funding for public benfit projects whose costs have exceeded expectations or which have suffered unforeseen delays, to investment in smaller or poorer countries and communities, who typically would be regarded as non-investment grade and so fail to attract investment.
